Should I get nylon or polyester carpet flooring?
Nylon and polyester are the two most popular manufactured carpets. However, your choice of this soft surface floor covering will come down to many factors, including budget and foot traffic.
Why synthetic carpets?
Many find synthetics the more practical choice, especially popular in homes with kids or pets. In addition, they tend to be more stain-resistant and budget-friendly.
Nylon: known as the most durable carpeting
Nylon is ideal for busy areas like stairways, hallways, and family rooms. It is also known for excellent resiliency, which eliminates crushing– when the fibers become matted.
Nylon has good stain resistance when a protectant is used. In addition, the solution-dyed version locks color in during the manufacturing process, enhancing color retention and eliminating fading.
Nylon carpets come in a wide assortment of colors, patterns, and styles, as you'll see in our carpet store. So feel free to come in to learn more.
The polyester trend
People love polyester rugs because they're soft, less expensive than nylon, and easy to clean. In addition, these rugs are hydrophobic, meaning that stain resistance is inherent.
All rugs are usually treated with a protectant. Combining the stain resistance with protection gives capability that goes through the roof!
Polyester carpeting, however, has less resiliency than nylon, but technology seems to be changing all that. It's still best, however, for floors in moderately busy rooms.
